José is amazing cook. Perfect fusion of burritos and Indian curry. Friendly guy with a lot of experience with Indian curry making (5-10 years Indian restaurant exp.). Comparatively cheap amongst the places around him, with very tasty food. Personal recommendation: go for bhuna wrap..you will not regret. Cheers!
Jose is one of the kindest, bestest business owners in this city. Firstly, his burritos are authentic and tasty as hell. As a vegan, getting decent options is hard but his midnight special is just so delicious. No joke, we eat here at least 3 times a week. He always remembers our order. Anyone that is saying this food is expensive doesn't know what they are talking about. You seriously can't get a better deal. We love El Asador!
Weekly tradition. Food is the best.
Fast service, good food
Best place to get tacos in Kingston hands down!
My friend and I decided to try this out after reading all the amazing reviews and this place did not dissapoint! Chicken fajita was absolutely delicious, lots of spice and fresh ingredients. The soups are amazing and made to order, not just warmed up in a microwave. My friend had the Midnight Special and it was unreal as well! Don't let the look of the place deceive you. We will definitely be regulars now and recommend it to every one we know!
Best shrimp tacos I've ever had. I went here at least 3 times a week when I was in university. Now, whenever I drive even close to Kingston, I'll take a detour just for the tacos. They were awesome 3 years ago and they were still awesome when I dropped by yesterday.
It has been 9 years since I visited Jose at El Asador. Was happy to return today! Beef Dhansak Curry Wrap is still as sweet and tangy as it used to be. I give his restaurant my highest recommendation for being very tasty, fresh and at a reasonable price-point.
Delicious fresh food. These people know how to make authentic Mexican food!
Amazing burritos, great bang for your buck too. Spicy is actually hot too, fwiw.
Always fresh
Freshly made and the best burritos and tacos I've ever had!! A hidden gem in Kingston!
Tasty and fresh Mexican and Indian food at reasonable prices. Jose is terrific.
Just not good. A dive, but not in a good way. Low quality food.
Been going here for a few years now. Best place to get a burrito or taco in the city been to many other places but none compares like this place. Definitely a hole in the wall place but amazing food everytime. As for the reviews saying try other places, nah I'll stick with El Asador every time thank you!
Love the corn tortilla tacos. Everything is super fresh and made very quickly. I suggest taking out because there are only a couple of bar stools to sit.
Went there cuz I've seen rave reviews, but the beef tacos were so disappointing. The tortillas were microwaved, the beef was unseasoned, and even with the sauce the whole thing tasted super bland.
Some chooche cant read the temerature of his half prepped food and serves food poison of one variety or another dont eat here if u like authentic food... Other than that its a pass
Good food!
Best burrito in kingston hands down
Great little take out place. Portion was a little bit smaller than i was expecting but it was still tasty!
Awesome place, probably my favorite in Kingston
The man in charge of this restaurant in a real legend. Go say hello and have one of his wonderfully tasting and inexpensive mexican goodness ♥️
Great guy, great food, great price. Supporting a local business and getting a great meal out of it.
Best Mexican food in Kingston by far! The midnight special or vindaloo if you like very spicy are my top recommendations. So friendly and fresh food! Salads are also great here.
I came here believing it truly was going to be a 5/5 in terms of taste. Not at all. Having been to many taco places that are highly rated in Toronto, the tacos and burritos here are extremely bland and was nothing special. Basically tasted like old el paso.
Great local spot with cheap prices and a friendly owner
I was looking for Indian food and being on a budget I thought I would try this place out. I wasn't disappointed. I had the Lamb bhoona curry on rice, so good, a little spicy made to order and hot and steamy. The owner is nice and talkative making me feel comfortable. He told me a bit about his restaurant experience and the best places in town to buy Indian spices (Asian market). Will definitely be back next time I'm in town!
Love this place! Best tacos is Kingston. Great prices and super friendly service. 🌮❤️
Love the taste of the chicken dansak wrap
Awesome restaurant!! I always end going here when looking for a good meal for takeout. The ranchero is the best. But all of his menu items are good!! I'm working on trying all of them.
I've gone to El Asador easily a dozen times and it is always good. Jose makes great fajitas in what is a true hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Delicious food for all hours of the day, not just late night.
Ordered bean burritoIt was ok, nothing to rave about. The owner/chef was making the food fresh so that was a nice touch. The hot sauce is good.
Fracking love this place, very folksy
Amazing food
It's a very small place and it seemed more like a take out place (the atmosphere is not exactly depicts a sit down place). Food was good. I had the lamb burrito and the meat was very flavorful. The rice accompanying was less but overall a great filling meal. The house special curry was too sweet in my opinion.
Delicious taco's with awesome Indian spices. Plenty of gluten free options. Owner is very friendly.
Jose and his family were our neighbours at one time and we had a boy, Joshua and they had a daughter, Katharina I believe. They are an awesome family. Jose has continued with his subtle humour, good nature and his love of cooking to El Asador on Princess street. The food is delicious and well priced, the service is friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend this place to absolutely EVERYBODY! The place may be small but the atmosphere and portions more than adequately balance it out.
An unassuming shop with burritos that will make you question why you ever bought a burrito anywhere else. Additionally Jose prepares traditional Indian currys which he also serves as a quick and easy wrap with all of the flavour of a sit down meal. There truly is nothing better if you need a quick bite but want amazing food.
This place is special. Big shout out to Jose who still remembered me when I used to go to Queen's 7 years ago. Midnight special all day!
Excellent food, take out only
Great food and service!
Got the beef taco yesterday. Beef was over cooked and not seasoned. Not even salt in the taco. It came with 2. I was starving and ate the first one but through away this one. It was that bad. The review said best taco in Kingston. I'm from out of town so I dont know if thats true. I hope not because if this is what kingston's best is then it's really sad. But definetly won't be going back. Also the corn tortillas are super dry and having two of them for 1 taco is pointless. Its equivalent to eating a popeyes biscuit without a drink.I'm thinking most of the reviews are from locals who havnt tasted anything better. So they dont have anything to compare this restaurant too. However his customer service is good. Seems like a nice guy.
Very small and cramped location wedged between two bars downtown but you've absolutely got to try it. Some of the best burritos available in town, one of the best places to go if you've got a serious hunger craving , especially if you're craving some serious heat . Service is fantastic , love this place and so will you
Thank you trip adviser for helping me find this gem and El Asador for the great food! ! Being an out of towner I didn't know where was the best place to go. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town!
Jose is the man! Great service and very friendly. Great authentic Mexican food, great prices! The food is always fresh, tasty and made to order. The wraps are always good and very filling!
Great quality food and it was relatively cheap, could definitely do with a bit of a facelift to draw more people in and the wait time was less than ideal for a moderate sized group
An absolutely amazing place. Back when I was in grad school one of our profs always loved ordering here for us hungry TA/slaves. Extraordinarily tasty, affordable, and very authentic, or so I'm told.
Authentic cuisine. Hard-working and very helpful food joint. Clean food made on the spot. Is it every time I'm in Kingston
It's a little hole in the wall with one guy cooking but he's really good! The chicken fajita and beef burrito were excellent. If you like spice make sure to ask the guy for it, definitely recommend that.
